The Oxford SuprEsser is a very outstanding professional de-esser and dynamic equalizer. There is a simple mode for quick fixes, but also an advanced mode for more functionality and fine tuning. The combination an intuitive FFT screen and three listening modes allows the user to easily see and hear exactly where the offending frequencies are, allowing for quick reduction or removal of offending audio. In addition to being able to trigger full-band compression, only frequencies Offensives can be carefully carved. Since the SuprEsser can operate at all frequencies, stops and other annoyances can also be effortlessly removed, making it more than a simple de-esser.

Like an Esser, the Oxford SuprEsser is designed for the treatment of wheezing and fricatives in vocals and for the treatment of unwanted whistles and spiral artifacts associated with wind instruments. However, it is can be applied equally to removing low-end plosives and thuds from excessive vocal work, without affecting nearby components in the frequency spectrum, keeping low-touch intact. For the most natural sonic results, the SuprEsser selects only the frequency band you set, so you don't end up with an exaggerated lisp-like voice with all the tail end!

Detailed visual feedback is provided thanks to the highly intuitive graphical display, allowing you to quickly identify the frequencies that need treatment and where to set the threshold. The threshold level and peak retention levels of the user-definable band are shown in the graph, along with the FFT display of the narrowband signal, which includes the peak level retention and the frequency that contains the most energy.

At the heart of the Oxford SuprEsser is an improved version of the compressor section of the Oxford Dynamics plug-in, which is recognized among professional users for providing precise and transparent peak control. Around this, there are a couple of cross filters to make the compressor react only to the defined frequency band. These linear phase filters are modeled on the Oxford EQ filters, making Supresser useful for precise mastering jobs and blending jobs. Three listen modes allow the user to listen to the mix, the output of the bandpass filter (in) or the output of the band-pass filter (outside).

Careful thought has been made to make the Oxford SuprEsser extremely easy and fast to use. Once the frequency band is set, simply lower the threshold attenuator until the gain reduction meter starts The plug-in automatically tracks the overall signal level and the threshold follows accordingly, so as to provide the same relative amount of gain reduction as the signal level increases or decreases. This is perfect for vocals where, for example, a vocalist is louder on the chorus than on the verse, but you want to apply the same relative amount of de-essing, in and not over de-ess  in the chorus. With its tracking mode automatic level, SuprEsser does all the hard work for you.
