Recording a Gregorian choir has been a long-awaited dream since I started developing sample libraries in 2006.

What seemed like an easy task was quite the opposite. Finding a true Gregorian choir is difficult to accomplish, as there aren't many of them and only a few that are really good. Gregorian music has its own nuances, it's not just another choir, you can't get the real feel of a regular choir pretending to sing Gregorian music. If you don't capture all these details and you really don't like Gregorian music, you can't get that genuine sound. That sound that is so special, that touches your soul and transports you to the Middle Ages, to those lost abbeys covered in mist, the sound of ancient bells pulsing for prayer.

All these lost secrets, all this magic is contained in this library.

I decided to record Cantus in a dry environment for several reasons: Gregorian music and reverb are good partners, so I didn't want to tie the two together. recordings to no special sound in the room. There are so many impressive reverbs out there that I've chosen to give you full control over the reverb characteristics.

The recording was carefully done with 8 Neumann microphones and mixed to get the true monk sound. I wanted you to feel the cold breath of the monk's singing mouths in those cold monasteries - right in your face as you played in the library. This library is a dream come true for me and, like all the libraries I make, there is a lot of love in it. Hope you get the same chills, I did.
